18.03.11 - Christchurch Earthquake Update Report
MAINZ Update: From MAINZ Dean, Harry Lyon:
We are continuing to make real progress in finding alternative facilities so we can resume classes. We are currently negotiating with two recording facilities for Cert and Dip Audio practical classes that should be finalised next week.
We are still sorting through options for classroom and administration spaces and hope to have something finalised next week.
A reminder that you have until the 22 May to withdraw without having to pay any tuition fees. This gives you a chance to see how things are going, once we get our temporary facilities up and running, before having to make a decision. We still plan to complete the 2011 academic year before Christmas and want to see as many of our 2011 students graduate even if we have to have a graduation ceremony in 2012.
Gretchen is now working out of the MAINZ Auckland campus and is available on her usual email gretchenm@tpp.ac.nz or 0800 265 526 ext 8225.
If you have not already been in communication with your tutor, please do so ASAP via email, text, Facebook or call Gretchen on the toll‐free number above.
Live Sound Students:
A lease has been signed on temporary premises for Live Sound at 7 Lincoln Lane, (off Lincoln Rd, Moorhouse Ave end), map
[HERE] The lease on the building starts on Monday and Marcus will be there tidying the place up and would welcome a visit if you are nearby.
On Tuesday Live Sound will have a full class meeting beginning at 10.30am (to miss rush hour) that will include morning tea and a catch up.
Live Sound students Luke Rossiter and Luke McCormick have spent the last couple of weeks organising a gig in Hornby for April 2nd. You've probably already heard about it but if you want to find out more, request to join their group on Facebook which can be found
[HERE] Industry Training Update: The Dean, Marion Smith, and Annabel Schuler from Education Support Services visited the CPIT Sullivan Ave campus on Thursday and spent time with staff and students.
The digger school students were in class for the day and their determination to keep moving with their studies and “get on with life” was inspiring.
Staff from the various areas were also on deck and doing a great job.
